A reference to the Chakras

There are major energy centres in the body called Chakras. This word means "wheel" in Sanskrit.  They correspond to and work closely with the endocrine glands. These centres have been studied for centuries in the Far East.  They funnel spiritual energy into the body, bring vitality to the organs, and each and every cell.

When there are blocks or the energy is not moving fluidly, there are effects on the physical body.  Read through the various descriptions and pick out any areas where you are having problems, physical, emotional or spiritual.  Notice the associations and try the techniques that are suggested.

The associations with ideas, planets and the Chakras have changed throughout history, as different political and religious ideas were in vogue. Notice the changes in the associations of various planets, from historical to modern times. I find this fascinating. There is no right or wrong here.  It is important to understand that the with qualities and planetary influences attributed to the Chakras have changed somewhat as different political and religious ideas were in vogue and accepted norms changed over centuries, and from country to country.

It should be noted that there are other Chakras in the body, and are located in various places, such as the palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. The ones I have listed are just the major centres. I have included the Thymus Chakra, which is not considered by many people as being vital, but it deals specifically with the communication with Angels, Masters, and higher energies and I feel it is important.   It is not on the above picture.  If it were, it would be between the green and light blue centres.

1) ROOT or BASE It is located at the base of your spine.
It deals with survival , security, safety, Grounded-ness, presence, confidence.
its colour is Red. its element is Earth.
It is associated with the mineral kingdom.
Part of body it is associated with is the upper digestive tract.
Psychic associations: Feelings of balance, shivers, hair on end, pleasure or pain (physical).
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Walking meditation, Touching, Deep relaxation, Writing, journalising about issues.

2) LUMBAR, SPLEEN OR SEXUAL It is located about two inches below the navel.
It deals with creativity, sexuality, intimacy, sensuality.
its colour is Orange. its element is Water.
It is associated with the plant kingdom.
Part of body it is associated with is the sex glands, organs.
Psychic associations: Strong feelings i.e.. joy, anger, fear, etc.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Fill yourself with love and send it out to others. Open your heart to gratitude.

3) SOLAR PLEXUS It is located in the solar plexus region. It deals with power, accomplishments.

Part of body it is associated with is the animal kingdom.
It is associated with the adrenal glands and digestive tract.
Psychic associations: A vague sense of knowingness or a more intense "sensual" kind of knowingness.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Oneness with all of life.

4) HEART It is located in the centre of the chest.
It deals with love, acceptance, compassion, surrender.
its colour is Green. its element is water.
It is associated with the human kingdom.
Part of body it is associated with is the heart and circulatory system.
Psychic associations: Empathy, love for all.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Light, bright rose light (for self love), or green light, in heart area. Or golden light, seen as a ball, expanding outwards from heart area. Flowers.

4a) THYMUS It is located in the upper chest.
It deals with universal love, connectedness, opening to subtle communications from higher beings, peacefulness and good health.
its colour is turquoise. Element: water.
It is associated with the Angels and the energy of this planet.
It is associated with the thymus gland and the immune system.
Psychic associations: Telepathy.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Bringing turquoise light into the area, expanding with each breath.

5) THROAT It is located in the throat.  It deals with communication.
its colour is blue. Its element is air.
It is associated with the Angelic realm.
Part of body it is associated with is the thyroid/ throat.
Psychic associations: Clairaudience.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Chanting, sounding, listening.

6) THIRD EYE It is located in the forehead. It deals with intuition.
its colour is Indigo. Its elements are air and water.
It is associated with the Masters and archangels.
Part of body it is associated with is the pineal / brain, mind.
Psychic associations: Clairvoyance.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Focus lightly on the area, with eyes closed. Bring light onto and into the area, asking to open to whatever is appropriate to you, at this time. Chant HU or another name for God, keeping your attention on this "inner screen".

7) CROWN It is located at the top of the head.
It deals with the so called "Cosmic" Consciousness or opening to self realization and, finally, God realization.
its colour is Violet or a brilliant white.
It is associated with the Creator.
Part of body it is associated with is the Hypothalamus, Pituitary, and the endocrine system of the body.
Psychic associations: not really applicable. Rather, the Spiritual associations are: Self-realization and finally, GOD Realization.
A few useful meditative techniques or thoughts: Chanting, using the appropriate sounds and colours associated with each plane. Also, bringing white light into the area.
